Greek cooking class in Bordeaux

A Greek cooking workshop in the kitchen of our restaurant, in the Bastide. Télémaque, the founder of KALIMERA, shows you how, you cook everything from scratch, and then we all sit down and eat it. Never cooked Greek before, or never cooked at all? Come hungry. That’s all we ask.

2 hours · €55 per person · 2 to 10 people

What you cook, and what you take home

From scratch.

On the menu

Classics of Greek cooking, every one made by you. Souvlaki and homemade tzatziki come round often. The exact menu depends on the session and can change, so we don’t announce it in advance.

Hands in

Before the knives come out, Télémaque tells you where the dishes come from and what each ingredient is there to do. Then it’s hands in, with his tips for prepping, keeping and plating each dish. The aim is that you can make it all again at home, without us.

The produce

We cook with the olives and the olive oil from Télémaque’s family grove in the Peloponnese. The same ones we use in the restaurant.

What’s included

The €55 covers the two hours with Télémaque, the ingredients, the equipment and the meal: we sit down together to eat what we have just cooked, with a bottle of Greek wine for the table. You don’t need to bring anything.

Your host · Télémaque

Not a chef hired for the day.

Télémaque runs every workshop himself. He started KALIMERA from a food truck in London in 2015, and he still cooks every day.

KALIMERA is a modern Athenian eatery: Greek family cooking, the way Athens eats it today. You learn it where we serve it, in the restaurant kitchen that feeds the Bastide from Tuesday to Saturday.

Give a Greek cooking class

For Christmas, a birthday or no reason at all: you give the workshop without fixing a date. The gift card arrives by email and they choose their session afterwards, within twelve months. They go home knowing how. You get invited to dinner, if they were brought up properly.

As a couple, with friends, with the team

The workshop can be booked from two people: a couple, friends, family from age 15. A session takes up to ten. More of you than that? Hen or stag do, birthday, team day out in Bordeaux: write to us and we’ll set up a workshop to fit. We have done it for big companies before.

And in Paris?

We have cooked with you in Paris before: Sundays in the kitchen at Ground Control, with Télémaque at the stove. New dates for Greek cooking classes in Paris are on their way. Leave us your email and we’ll write as soon as they open. Until then, the restaurant at Ground Control is open from Wednesday to Sunday.

Good to know before you book

What does the price include?

Two hours with Télémaque, the ingredients, the equipment and the meal we share at the end, with a bottle of Greek wine for the table. €55 per person.

How long does the workshop last?

Two hours, meal included. We cook first, then we sit down to eat.

How many people take part?

From 2 to 10 per session. A session goes ahead from two guests. If there are too few, WeCanDoo offers you another date, a credit or a refund, depending on how you paid. More than ten of you? Email us.

Do I need to know how to cook?

No. Télémaque shows every step and everybody cooks, complete beginners and old hands alike. The workshop is open from age 15.

What will we cook?

Classics of Greek cooking, made from scratch. Souvlaki and homemade tzatziki come round often, but the menu depends on the session and can change, so we don’t announce it in advance.

Can you cater for allergies and dietary requirements?

Yes, as long as we know. Because the menu isn’t announced, tell us about allergies and diets when you book, by email at info@eatkalimera.com. With 48 hours’ notice we do everything we can to adapt, and we can do a lot. After that it gets difficult.

What language is the workshop in?

French. Télémaque also speaks English and Greek, for questions along the way.

Can I cancel or change my date?

Yes. Up to 4 days before the workshop, a booking can be moved or cancelled at no charge, with a full refund. After that it can no longer be cancelled or refunded. These are the terms of WeCanDoo, which handles the booking.

Can I give the workshop as a gift?

Yes. Choose the gift card in the booking window: it arrives by email straight after you pay, and whoever receives it picks their session afterwards. It is valid for 12 months on all the workshop’s dates.

Where is it, and how do I get there?

In the kitchen of KALIMERA Bordeaux, 1 Place Marie de Gournay, in the Bastide quarter on the right bank. By tram, bus or bike. The kitchen is not accessible for people with reduced mobility.

Can we book a private workshop for a group?

Yes. Hen and stag dos, birthdays, team days: email info@eatkalimera.com and we’ll find a date together. More than ten people is possible too: we have done it for big companies.
